| The art and science of ceramics dates back many millennia with clay and ceramic pots unearthed in the earliest civilizations. Beautiful mosaic and hand-painted ceramic decorations from ancient Middle Eastern and Asian cultures survive today retaining their color even after centuries of exposure to intense sunlight and wear. For thousands of years, hand painting with inorganic pigments and subsequent firing at very high temperature has been the only method for creating durable images on ceramic. As the years have progressed, several types of processess such as screen printing and Cromalin art have used ceramic toners to create images on ceramic surfaces. Thermal transfer and sublimation techniques were also introduced and can reproduce photographs on ceramic but are NOT durable. These techniques use much lower temperatures and plastic surface treatments to image the surface on the ceramic. " Perm-Images" uses a new, patented digital technology for producting low cost, short-run or one of a kind, custom ceramic decals to image on ceramics for many applications. The technique allows the creation of 400 to 600 dots-per-nch (dpi) photo-quality images to be created using true ceramic pigments which are kiln fired into the ceramic glaze at 1500+ degrees Fahrenheit. The resulting product has all the performance you would expect from a ceramic product including excellent abrasion resistance and UV stabliity becasue it is a true ceramic product. This process has been tested by The Tile Council of American and meets all of the performance standards set by the TCA for commercial ceramic tile. We can transfer any non copyrighted artwork, picture or any other image to tile and it will not fade and will last like any other ceramic product.
